Unique adventure tour of its kind as it combines in one full day a horseriding in front of Lake Viedma with lunch at Estancia La Estela and rafting in La Leona River, while you marvel with spectacular sceneries.
If you book the tour with transfer, we will pick you up at your hotel in El Calafate to start the journey heading north on the famous Route 40. Halfway, we will stop at the viewpoint of Lake Argentino where you will have an explanation about geology and glaciology to, then, continue the journey until we reach the mythical Parador La Leona. Passengers who have not booked the transfer must go to the Parador La Leona. There, you will do a short visit to the museum of this typical place and enjoy cafetería service with a mix of homemade cakes, to then reach our destination: Estancia La Estela.
Once arrived in this estancia, as it is located in a privileged position overlooking Lake Viedma, you can marvel at stunning views of Cerro Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, Viedma Glacier and The Andes. You will take a walk through the estancia getting ready for one of the main activities of the tour: the horseriding. By midmorning starts the 1 hour and 30 minutes ride in which you will visit the Yaten Refuge, located at the tip of Lake Viedma and where La Leona River rises. During the tour, you will appreciate the Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre as a Patagonian postcard. Besides, you will have a brief review of flora and fauna.
Back in Estancia La Estela, you will have lunch with starter (meat and vegetable turnovers), main course (steaks with rustic potatoes) and dessert (pancakes with caramel, strawberries and chocolate sauce). A vegetarian option is also available ordering in advance. Drinks included.
Once lunch is over, and after a safety talk in the marina of the estancia, starts the 1 hour rafting (category I) on La Leona River, making a short stop at the first rural school of the area, which worked until the 70s and still preserves some of its infrastructure. The tour continues on the boat until you finally disembark at Parador La Leona.
To finish the day, you will have a toast at Parador La Leona with the favorite Gauchos drink: “caña”, always served by fried cakes. You will return to El Calafate at 16:00.
