Description

Description
The Peninsula Valdes full day: Southern Circuit excursion invites you to discover one of the most important natural destinations in Argentine Patagonia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Between June and December, the tour follows the Southern Circuit, a route that combines coastal scenery, marine wildlife and the opportunity to enjoy a Southern Right Whale watching cruise in Puerto Piramides, while visiting some of the protected area's most iconic attractions.

The experience begins early in the morning with pickup from accommodations in Puerto Madryn before entering Peninsula Valdes. The first stop is at the Carlos Ameghino Isthmus, where the Interpretation Center will be visited to learn about the reserve's history, geography and biodiversity. From its viewpoint, visitors can also enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Golfo Nuevo, Golfo San Matias and Bird Island.

The tour then continues to Puerto Piramides, the peninsula's only village and the departure point for the Southern Right Whale watching cruise, available from June to December. This optional navigation offers the chance to observe these magnificent whales in their natural habitat, while those who choose not to join the cruise will have free time to explore the village and enjoy its beaches sheltered by impressive cliffs.

The tour continues along the Southern Circuit, crossing the Patagonian steppe and the Grande and Chica Salt Flats, two of the largest natural depressions in South America, before following the eastern coastline of Peninsula Valdes toward Punta Delgada, home to its historic lighthouse and an important southern elephant seal colony. A stop will then be made at Estancia La Elvira to relax or have lunch before continuing to Punta Cantor, an outstanding natural viewpoint overlooking elephant seals and the spectacular Caleta Valdes, a unique coastal formation and one of the reserve's most remarkable natural environments. Depending on the season, a colony of Magellanic penguins may also be observed.

Throughout the excursion, sightings of guanacos, maras, rheas, gray foxes and a wide variety of Patagonian bird species are common, making every section of the journey an excellent opportunity to enjoy nature and wildlife photography.
