Description
This is a physically demanding trekking excursion in El Chalten that visits the famous Laguna de los Tres, located at the base of Mount Fitz Roy. The tour starts and ends in El Chalten on the same day and is always accompanied by a professional mountain guide. It is intended for participants in good physical condition who wish to discover a mountain landscape that very few visitors to El Chalten can access while hiking the area's most renowned trekking trails from the Rio Electrico Bridge, offering spectacular views of Mount Fitz Roy.
The tour begins with a transfer from meeting point located in El Chalten to the Rio Electrico Bridge, located 15 km from town, where this trekking adventure begins.
Once on the trail, the 20 km, 9 to 10-hour trek to Laguna de los Tres begins, always accompanied by an experienced mountain guide. The first section of the hike leads through picturesque valleys and lush native forests until reaching the impressive Piedras Blancas Glacier Viewpoint, where you will enjoy the first breathtaking views of the iconic peaks of Mount Fitz Roy. The trek continues through the famous Poincenot Camp (6.3 km), the gateway to the most challenging part of the excursion: a steep and rocky ascent that will test your adventurous spirit before reaching the summit.
After this demanding climb, you will arrive at the highlight of the trek: Laguna de los Tres (2.5 km). At this pristine mountain lagoon, you will be rewarded with unparalleled close-up views of the base of Mount Fitz Roy and its impressive granite spires reflected in the crystal-clear waters, an ideal place to enjoy a well-deserved rest and lunch.
After visiting Laguna de los Tres, the return journey to El Chalten begins, this time descending along a different trail that passes by the beautiful Laguna Capri (11.2 km). This final stretch offers one last unforgettable opportunity to admire the majesty of Fitz Roy in all its splendor before completing the trek and returning directly to El Chalten after visiting one of the most famous lagoons in Argentina's National Trekking Capital.
