Description

Description
The Loma del Pliegue Tumbado trek is one of the most complete and challenging hikes in Los Glaciares National Park. Departing from El Chalten, this 8-hour adventure is ideal for those seeking a demanding trekking experience, combining physical effort with some of Patagonia's finest panoramic views.

The excursion begins with pick-up in El Chalten and transfer to the trailhead. From there, a 20 km hike begins, steadily ascending to one of the region's most spectacular natural viewpoints. Along the route, hikers cross Andean-Patagonian forests, wetlands and high-mountain terrain, where the scenery gradually changes as altitude is gained.

During the first part of the trek, the trail passes through a forested landscape with moderate slopes before opening into more arid and rocky terrain. With every meter of elevation gained, increasingly expansive views begin to unfold over glacial valleys, surrounding mountains and the Patagonian steppe.

The final stage of the ascent leads to the Loma del Pliegue Tumbado Viewpoint, located more than 1,100 meters above sea level. From this privileged natural balcony, you will enjoy an incredible 360° panoramic view encompassing the Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre and Huemul massifs, the Rio De las Vueltas Valley, Lake Viedma and much of the northern area of Los Glaciares National Park.

At the viewpoint, there will be time to rest, enjoy the lunchbox we recommend bringing to regain energy, and contemplate one of Patagonia's most breathtaking landscapes. It is the perfect moment to take photographs and appreciate the vastness of the surroundings before beginning the descent.

Finally, the return to El Chalten follows the same trail, completing a hike of approximately 20 km and one of the trekking excursions with the best panoramic views in Argentina's National Trekking Capital.
