Description

Description
Circuito Grande is an excursion that reveals the most surprising diversity of Patagonian landscapes in a single day by visiting the towns of Villa Traful and Villa La Angostura. From Bariloche, the route travels through the steppe, crosses the Limay River valley, climbs mountains and skirts lakes such as Nahuel Huapi and Traful, combining nature, history and scenic roads seemingly designed for contemplation.

The tour starts at 8:30 a.m. from the agreed meeting point in Bariloche, skirting Lake Nahuel Huapi towards the legendary Route 40 and entering the steppe towards the Limay River valley, a corridor of ochre tones marked by rock formations and the impressive Enchanted Valley. Here, the guide will share the area’s interesting history and help you identify characteristic rock formations. Farther ahead, in Confluencia, the Traful and Limay rivers meet in a landscape that signals the entrance to the Andes.

The route continues along a scenic gravel road until reaching Villa Traful, a town surrounded by forests and mountains, famous for the Mirador del Viento, where Lake Traful unfolds in a deep blue from the top of Patagonian cliffs. In this picturesque town, you will have free time to visit its famous lake with calm, crystal-clear waters.

The road then rejoins the legendary Route 40 along a section of the 7 Lakes Route to skirt some of these lakes and continue towards Villa La Angostura, a charming mountain town known for its serene bays and forests of coihue and arrayan trees. Here, you will visit its port, historic center and enjoy free time to explore its corners and surroundings. The visit offers a perfect pause for lunch before continuing the tour.

The return to Bariloche once again skirts Lake Nahuel Huapi, completing a circuit that stands out for its variety of landscapes, panoramic views and the feeling of having traveled across Patagonia in all its breadth, arriving at the agreed meeting point at 6:00 p.m.

Circuito Grande is ideal for those seeking a broad and in-depth Patagonian experience: a journey where every stretch tells a different story and every viewpoint offers an unforgettable postcard.
