Description
The Moreno Ice: Kayak Experience excursion combines an exciting guided kayaking adventure across Lake Argentino with a hike to a natural viewpoint in a less-explored area of Bahía Catalana. An adventure in nature that allows you to discover Perito Moreno Glacier from a privileged perspective, with no previous experience required.
For those who book the excursion with transportation from El Calafate, the experience begins with hotel pickup for the 70 km journey to Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, within Los Glaciares National Park. Those who prefer to make their own way there should go directly to the refuge at the port, where the activity begins.
Upon arrival, the guides will provide a technical and safety briefing and help you put on the necessary equipment. Once everyone is ready, the adventure begins with a kayaking trip of approximately 1 hour, covering 4 km across the waters of Lake Argentino toward the impressive south face of the Perito Moreno Glacier. During the navigation, you’ll cross Bahía Catalana, surrounded by mountains and characteristic Patagonian landscapes.
Upon reaching the peninsula opposite the glacier, you’ll disembark for an easy walk to a natural viewpoint in a less-explored area of Bahía Catalana, offering privileged views of Perito Moreno Glacier. There will be time to enjoy the included snack, take photographs, and admire the vastness of the glacier in a peaceful setting surrounded by Patagonian nature.
Finally, you’ll return to the kayaks for the journey back to Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, once again enjoying views of the glacier and the mountains surrounding it. An experience that combines exploration, adventure, and direct contact with nature in one of Patagonia’s most iconic settings.
