Description
The Touch the Glacier with Navigation excursion is an excellent option for those who wish to get close enough to feel the Perito Moreno Glacier with their own hands. It includes a boat tour along the south face, trekking along the beach with views of the glacier and visit to the balconies, always accompanied by a guide from Los Glaciares National Park.
If you book the tour with transportation from El Calafate, the excursion begins when we pick you up from your hotel and begin the 70-km journey to Port Bajo de las Sombras, where you will board a boat to begin a 20-minute navigation and cross the Brazo Rico (Rico Arm) of Lake Argentino. If the transfer is not included, you must arrive at Port Bajo de las Sombras, located 7 km before reaching the glacier.
After crossing the Brazo Rico (Rico Arm) of the lake, you will disembark on the opposite shore to begin a 30-minute walk along a beach with views of the Perito Moreno Glacier. Occasionally, you will observe ice calvings from the front row. Upon completing the trek and reaching the glacier, you will touch the ice with your own hands and appreciate its intense and varied colors and shapes.
After this unforgettable encounter with the glacier, you will return to the boat. As we sail towards Port Bajo de las Sombras, you will enjoy a delicious calafate liqueur with ice from the glacier while enjoying the last views of the southern face of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
If the tour was booked with pickup from your hotel in El Calafate, you will also visit the Perito Moreno Glacier balconies, where you will have between 1 and 2 hours to explore them.
Finally, you will return to the city of El Calafate after having visited one of the most famous glaciers in the world.
